Directional Survey Instruments for Oil and Gas Wells
Introduction

The MITCO magnetic single shot instruments are used to determine the course of a wellbore during the drilling operation. The instrument measures and records the inclination and magnetic direction of the wellbore at a single measured depth and provides a permanent survey record on a film disk.

The complete instrument assembly consists of a camera, angle unit, timing device, and battery section - mounted in a protective barrel. For accurate measurements one or more non-magnetic drill collars must be placed in the bottom hole drilling assembly with the single shot instrument correctly located in these collars.

The MITCO instruments are available in two sizes: The 1 1/4" diameter mounted in a 1 3/4" O.D. protective barrel and running gear, and the 1 1/16" diameter mounted in a 1 3/8" O.D. protective barrel and running gear. This smaller instrument is particularly suited for use with the MITCO thermoshield in high temperature wells.

Interchangeable with Industry Standard Single Shot:

The MITCO 1 1/4" instrument (1 3/4" O.D. running gear) is compatible in performance and operation with the Baker Hughes Inteq (Eastman Whipstock) series "R" single shot instrument. MITCO instrument components and supplies are also interchangeable with the series "R" single shot.

The MITCO 1 1/16" instrument (1 3/8" O.D. running gear) is compatible in performance and operation with the Baker Hughes Inteq (Eastman Whipstock) series "E" single shot instrument. MITCO instrument components and supplies are also interchangeable with the series "E" single shot.
